Airbnb Brian Chesky is the person I wanted to ask to, few things in person after reading those news. I find out that Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky lists his spare room on the rental site, but there’s a catch. I just could not find any date available dates in the next years. Therefore I will take a virtual meeting.

My letter to Airbnb Brian Chesky

I can sense the immense challenges you face as you navigate the uncharted waters of AirBnB. Allow me to express my deepest sympathies and offer my unwavering support. Your journey is a true testament to your resilience and determination.

The Covid pandemic has greatly affected the Airbnb industry, causing significant hardship for hosts and managers. Many Airbnb spaces now remain empty, leaving those who put effort into creating memorable experiences feeling uncertain and saddened. However, you believe that by working together, we can overcome these challenges and restore the true essence of hospitality that Airbnb is known for.

In A Letter to Hosts you wrote on Mar 30, 2020 your decision to cancel all reservations and give a full refund or a travel credit to guests impacted by COVID-19 put many hosts out of business.

I understand that some Airbnb hosts are unhappy and taking legal action or leaving the platform. Please know that this is not your fault. Your commitment as a host is admirable, and we can work together to overcome these difficulties.

And I read on Nov 16, 2022 that Airbnb Eases Host Sign-Up Process, Add More Search …
taking several steps to ease the onboarding with new hosts. At what price Brian?

There are superhosts or very old host that lost up to 75% of their business with empty calendar in hight season.

What are you going to do and what are we going to do with this? I do not care what happened but we can get back to place it was before.

Now let me write you some of my questions that I share with others. I would appreciate if you could answer those questions instead of me.

Many thank for your help, sincerly

How AirBnB Might Fail?

Like said from an article By Pipedreamer in Harvard website; AirBnB is one of the most successful companies growing a two sided market. Founded a decade ago, they now boast over 1.5 Million listings in 34,000 cities and 190 countries. Early this year, AirBed and Breakfast was valued at 25.5 Billion.

Airbnb has no value, since they relies on a commission system that adds costs to the users to access their platform. Which means that the more you are making, the more you are paying.  An AirBnB host will try to contact the guest directly to save money.

But why AirBnB might risk to fail?

It’s crucial to understand that users can depart as swiftly as they arrive. With the constant influx of new renters joining the platform, upholding impeccable quality standards becomes more challenging than ever. Let’s rise to the occasion and take proactive steps to maintain exceptional user experiences for all!

And so hosts are leaving the platform once they realize they can cut the middleman and advertise directly to consumers.

What is the biggest threat to Airbnb?

Airbnb is available in many places, but there is no standard for quality control. This can lead to problems like less comfort and cleanliness. This is because poor hosts can damage Airbnb’s reputation. If hosts don’t follow the rules, they can face consequences.

What is the problem with Airbnb company?

Some common challenges for Airbnb Hosts include regulations, local laws, parties, turnovers, managing guests, and also finding ideal guests.

What will be the future of Airbnb?

Airbnb expects its revenue in the first quarter of 2022 to increase by around 60%. Analysts also predict a 32% revenue growth for the entire year. Airbnb is performing well in the current market, showing improved profitability and benefiting from relaxed lockdown measures. Although there may be some challenges due to macro and geopolitical factors, it has the potential to be a successful long-term investment.

Airbnb surged through 2021, but it’s stumbled in 2022 even as the company has reported strong growth on the top and bottom lines. Year to date, the stock is down 42% as investors seem to be betting that the recovery in the travel market will soon fade as fears of a global recession rise.

Has AirBnB become absolute garbage?

Many hosts are focused on money more than providing a good experience for guests. They often forget their original purpose of offering hospitality.

The only scenario that still makes sense for STRs is large parties. That’s it. I could never recommend an Airbnb to a family of say 2-4 because the service will likely be shit and it’ll be as expensive as a hotel with 20% the convenience.

Is Airbnb losing popularity?

Shares of Airbnb have declined nearly 30% year to date, while the S&P 500 index SPX, has fallen about 23% so far this year.

Airbnb had a great Q3 2022 with a 25% increase in demand compared to last summer. However, some hosts have noticed fewer bookings since July. Airbnb is still looking to add more hosts to its platform.

Like written in this article by Marketwatch: Airbnb hosts Bookings ‘fell off a cliff’ because of competition and higher prices.

Why are people not using Airbnb?

A 2021 study of more than 125,000 Airbnb complaints on Twitter found that 72% of the issues were related to poor customer service and 22% were related to scams.
