Norwegian emotions: say how you feel
This free lesson is part of the Mondosol Learn to speak Norwegian course. In about ten minutes you will learn how to say that you are happy, tired, hungry, stressed, sad, bored or looking forward to something, and how to answer Hvordan har du det? Everything runs in your browser, so you can practise on your phone, tablet or laptop.
What you will learn
- Jeg er glad — I am happy — glad is the everyday Norwegian word for happy.
- Jeg er trøtt — I am tired — very common on a dark winter morning.
- Jeg er sulten — I am hungry — often followed by Skal vi spise? (Shall we eat?).
- Jeg er stresset — I am stressed — borrowed from English, with Norwegian pronunciation.
- Jeg er lei meg — I am sad — lei meg can also mean I am sorry.
- Jeg gleder meg — I am looking forward to it — a favourite Norwegian phrase.
- Jeg kjeder meg — I am bored — a reflexive verb: å kjede seg.
- Hvordan har du det? — How are you? — literally how do you have it? Answer: Bare bra, takk!
