What you will learn

• Jeg vil gjerne bestille time. — I would like to book an appointment, at the doctor, dentist or hairdresser. Here time means appointment.
• Når passer det for deg? — When suits you?
• Passer det på tirsdag? — Does Tuesday work for you?
• klokka ti — At ten o'clock.
• halv tre — Half past two (2:30). Norwegians count towards the next hour: halv tre is half to three.
• Det passer fint. — That suits me fine: use it to confirm.
• Kan vi flytte timen? — Can we move the appointment?
• Jeg må avlyse. — I have to cancel.

Practice questions

1. What time is “halv tre”? Options: 3:30, 2:30, 3:00.
2. How do you confirm a time? Options: Jeg må avlyse, Kan vi flytte timen?, Det passer fint.
3. “Jeg vil gjerne bestille time” means… Options: I would like to book an appointment, I want to buy a clock, I have no time.
