Atti indiretti: “Potresti chiudere la finestra?” is a polite request, not a real question about ability. Implicature conversazionali (Grice): what is implied beyond what is said. La cortesia linguistica: Use of Lei, subjunctive, conditional to signal formality and respect. Il principio di cooperazione: Be truthful, informative, relevant, clear.
