What real users said, and what I found
Short quotes from public reviews, copied word for word. Click any card to read the full review.
“Each time I send an international wire it’s super easy for me and always hits within the same time period.”
Elio’s cross-check: app users agree: 4.8 on the App Store (125K ratings) and 4.6 on Google Play (401K reviews).
“The Exchange rates are competitive and the service efficient; no issues.”
Elio’s cross-check: on Oct 3 Xe quoted €1,000 to India with a €0.00 debit-card fee, at a rate about 0.5% under its own mid-market rate.
“The only thing I don’t like is that they have added a small fee per transaction. There used to be no fee.”
Elio’s cross-check: Xe’s own App Store screenshot shows a $5 fee on a $1,000 transfer. Fees vary by method, amount and country.
“they openly advertise ‘free transfers’ without any mention of possible third party charges”
Elio’s cross-check: Xe’s fees page does warn that recipient banks or intermediaries may charge extra fees it can’t control.
“Xe later showed the transfer as completed, but the recipient never received the money.”
Elio’s cross-check: her payment was returned over a missing tax code. Ask what the recipient’s bank needs before you send.
“However, transfer fees and exchange rate mark-ups are relatively high.”
Elio’s cross-check: our Oct 3 snapshot fits: a €0 fee, but the rate sat about 0.5% under mid-market.
“Xe is easy, regulated and shows its fee before you pay. The cost hides in the rate, so compare one real quote with your bank before you send.”
Verdict 4.1/5. Good for regular transfers if you check the rate.

How much does Xe cost?
A free account. Fees depend on currency, country, amount and how you pay. The rest is in the exchange rate.
| Example | Fee | Rate vs mid-market |
|---|---|---|
| €1,000 to India, debit card (our live quote) | €0.00 | 107.6912 vs 108.2406 INR, about 0.5% lower |
| $1,000 to the UK, debit card (Xe’s App Store example) | $5 | Not shown |
Quick math: on €1,000 to India, your recipient gets ₹107,691 instead of ₹108,241 at mid-market. That’s about ₹549 (≈€5) in the rate.

People also ask
Does Xe charge fees?
It depends on the currency, destination, amount and payment method, and Xe shows any fee before you confirm. In our Oct 3, 2026 check, €1,000 to India by debit card showed a €0.00 fee. Recipient banks may still deduct their own fees.
Does Xe use the mid-market rate for transfers?
No. Xe’s converter shows the mid-market rate for information. In our check the transfer rate was about 0.5% lower, which is where much of the cost sits.
Is Xe safe?
Xe is part of Euronet Worldwide (NASDAQ: EEFT) and says it is licensed by the FCA, FinCEN, FINTRAC, ASIC and other regulators.
How fast are Xe transfers?
Xe says most transfers arrive in minutes. Card payments are typically processed in under 24 hours; bank payments can take longer.

Elio Mondello Anza (Mondosol) –
Expert verdict: 4.1/5, based on public reviews on Trustpilot, the App Store, Google Play and Forbes Advisor, plus a live Xe quote checked on Oct 3, 2026 (not a hands-on transfer). Xe is easy to use, regulated, and shows any fee before you confirm; users rate it 4.4 on Trustpilot and 4.8 (iOS) and 4.6 (Android) on the app stores. The cost sits mostly in the exchange rate: in our check the transfer rate was about 0.5% under Xe’s own mid-market rate, and recipient banks can deduct extra fees. Open a free account, compare one real quote with your bank, and check what the recipient’s bank needs before you send.
